
For small businesses, new cloud-based communications solutions are beginning to kick over long-standing barriers, enabling a new wave of innovation in customer service and business processes. In his 2012 predictions blog, John Engates, chief technology officer for Rackspace computing, talked about the growing awareness of the advantages of cloud solutions, “A huge advantage for SMBs is that economies of scale in managed services means they get access to dazzling IT sophistication for very little money.” That’s really what the promise of the cloud is all about: making business-critical solutions widely available at a cost that scales up or down with the size and requirements of a given business.
